Entry Form

With a mouth-watering winners’ prize of R50 000 for the men and women, respectively, top athletes are expected to take advantage of the late physical registration on Friday, April 15 at King’s Park Athletics Stadium in Durban and on Saturday, April 16 the collection & registration is at the King Edward Park in Greytown. Registration will be opened between 10am and 6pm both days.

Run in accordance with the rules of the Athletics South Africa, IAAF and KZN Athletics, this 42.2km race will be held on Sunday, April 17, starting at 5.30am from New Venture Farm on R33 close to Mpolweni and finishing at Greytown’s King Edward Park.

“After the spending launch of the race last year, we anticipate an increase in the number of runners especially in the longer distance.

“We believe that it is placed at the right time on the road running calendar to allow athletes to qualify for the Comrades Marathon and for those who are now in training for it, as the autumn season provides for perfect conditions to fulfil those ambitions.

“The event is geared as a family day, which is why all members of the public young and old are invited to take part in the Fun Run, while the more serious competitors go for the standard marathon,” said Celi Makhoba, the race director.

The cut off time for the 42.2km is at 11.30am with the prize giving taking place at 12 noon.

Only medically fit athletes, who are at least 20 years old on the race day, are allowed to enter, and all finishers within the cut-off time will receive a bronze medal, cap or t-shirts and the top 10 in all age categories will receive a gold medal, cap and a t-shirt.

Also to be strictly enforced is that all runners must purchase a Champion Chip which costs R130 in order to qualify in order to be timed, with no exceptions.

For entrants who have transportation issues, the race organisers have made arrangements for a shuttle service to be available on race day which will be running at 3.45am and 4.30am only from the King Edward Park to the start!

Online registration can be done at www.jgzumamarathon.co.za, while entry forms are available from the following outlets: Kings Park Athletics Stadium, Durban Runner Sports Shop, Poobie Naidoo (PMB), ChampionChip Africa offices or at the Umshwathi and Umvoti Municipality offices.
